Hello this is Wkwesi Williams, I am one of the teaching pros at the Racquet Club of Irvine, and I am honored to inform you about the 1st annual Doubles for Diabetes FUNdraiser event that the Spearman Clubs and I are hosting on February 26th, 2011. What inspired this event is the realization that diabetes is everywhere and is affecting everyone, even our beloved pets. Despite not having the disease, I have so many people in my life who do, like my father, my grandparents, and my 20-year-old family friend Beverly Kramer who has had Type 1 Diabetes for the last 7 years of her life. You can participate in this event with your generous contributions that you can make through playing the event, buying raffle tickets at the front desk, or by you simply donating to this cause. We hope to raise at least $50,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation is the worldwide leader in funding research to cure type 1diabetes, an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly and lasts a lifetime. - Number of Doubles teams: 22 (courts 9 – 18)
- Number of games: Best 4 service games, if the score is 2-2 one point will be played out to determine the winners.
- Cost per player including lunch: $40 Cost per non-players for lunch: $20
- Raffle Tickets: Tickets can be purchased at the front desk, or through Wkwesi Williams, or email/phone request. The day of the event, a drawing will take place where some amazing prices will be awarded.
